Wood Couture: Tripled Vases
A series of miniature vases made with adapted plywood, part of the Wood Couture ongoing project.
Thin layers of wood veneer are dyed, pressed, cut, and pressed again, in a triple process of lamination, resulting in a new material aesthetics. This process transforms the excess bits of cheap wood into a new precious gem, to be carefully carved.
These vases are an abstract take on iconic ornamental objects, tiny and void of functional use, leaving the stage for the material and the laborious craft.
